Gabi was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and now lives in Toronto, Canada with her husband and two children.

 

Growing up in South Africa, Gabi was inspired and surrounded by art from a young age and painted her first acrylic painting at 7 years old. This first piece “My Puppies”, hangs in her home today.

 

Throughout elementary, high school and her university studies, Gabi continued to recreationally paint. She explored various art mediums though different classes and courses, always working with diverse and exceptional artists.  Throughout the years she explored different mediums including: acrylic, oil, charcoal, watercolours and more recently, mixed media. Her art was recognised and won various awards but her most rewarding pieces are those she does “for fun” for 7 year old son and 4 year old daughter.

 

After a successful time in business and wealth management, Gabi decided to focus full time on her art and launched "Gabi Krug- Custom Art", where she is passionately creating pieces of art for each unique client and the specific spaces they wish to enhance. Gabi works with each client to either created a modified replica of an exciting artwork in a specific size, shade or medium or to create a unique piece that captures each client’s vision. In this way the clients are “part” of the creative process collaborating on the subject, style, meaning and color of their custom art pieces.

 

Gabi believes that art should not be selective or financially prohibitive and that anyone can have a custom piece which reflects their passions and vision. Gabi believes that art can inspire each person in their everyday lives and that surrounding oneself with art that you love  can motivate, inspire and cause you to focus on the beauty of life in everyday routines, objects, colors and shapes. 

 

Gabi hopes to create pieces for her clients which inspire and excite them personally.
